Clarity is Key

The task of decluttering can be overwhelming and intimidating for most people. That is why we must be transparent about our intentions and why we are doing it. Defining this will keep you on track in your journey to having a clutter-free life.

Before we begin this fantastic task of decluttering, I strongly recommend that you define your “Why” because it will:

1. Help you focus

2. Make it easy for you to prioritize

3. Aid you in coming up with a plan

4. Keep you going when things get tough

In my case, I took on this challenge because I wanted to see life through a lens of contentment. I wanted to live a secure life, knowing I already have everything necessary.

Trust me; once you start decluttering, you will see the value of what you already have. When I say this, I am not just referring to material things; it is everything you have, such as your family, friends, work, hobbies, and yourself.

So, I ask you, what's your why?

Write down your why

Let's talk about why you're here and why you want to make a change.

Find a pen and paper, and write that answer down; keep it somewhere nearby, like on a sticky note on your desk, so that it's front and center.

Whatever your reasons are, they will be unique to you. Make sure they feel meaningful. So you're more likely to follow through. Decluttering takes time, patience, and persistence. So at the beginning of each decluttering activity, look at your paper and review your reasons again. Reminding yourself why you're here will help you focus along the way.
